I received the following e-mail this afternoon. When I called the Nokia number, the operator on the phone guessed right away that I was calling about the 770 and told me that the e-mail I received was probably generated because I was one of the very earliest people to order the tablet.
She said that when people originally ordered the tablet the Web site said delivery was expected on November 17 and people had “misinterpreted” that do mean that delivery would actually happen for sure on that date. “Due to unforeseen circumstances,” the units hadn’t yet arrived at the warehouse, and they were sending out the e-mails to confirm with people that they still wanted to receive the tablets.
I asked when they were now expected to arrive and she said there was no firm date, but that it had been suggested that the warehouse could expect them December 30. Even that, she said, was not a firm date — the fact that the e-mails were being generated now could be interpreted as a sign that the units would arrive sooner — but basically, nobody should get
their hopes up.

MobileBurn runs a 9-page (wow!) review of Nokia 770.
If Nokia can somehow get the 770 bundled with home broadband service in a way that gets the cost down to about $100 (subsidized, of course), then I think it could break into the mainstream. If they can’t pull that off, and I think it is a tall order, I imagine it will end up like the Tablet PC “craze” in that it will have a die-hard core group of fans/consumers, but will not become something you see everywhere. In a world where you can buy a fully featured desktop PC for $350, it will be hard to get people to plunk down that much on something that fits in the palm of your hand - and doesn’t even have a keyboard. But do I want one? Most certainly yes. Do you? If you are reading this, my guess is that you, too, want one, and that you’ll be quite happy with it - as long as you have a WiFi enabled broadband connection at home.
jkOnTheRun: Nokia 770 shows up on CompUSA for $399.99
To kick off the release of Opera’s debut on the Nokia 770, we’re giving away two of these cool little gadgets. Here’s how you win: print out a life-sized picture of the Nokia 770. Show us how you would use the device if you had the real thing. The two submissions the community judge as being the best will have their paper mock-ups replaced by the real thing!
Probably just a typo, but nevertheless a third country has been added to the list of honorary countries which participated in making of 770 - Lithuania.
In related news, Nokia USA appears to have grossly underestimated demand for the 770 — the Lithuania-made device is currently back-ordered into January, as many LinuxDevices.com readers are likely already aware.
