Google and Nokia are expected to announce the upgrade at an event Tuesday in Stockholm, said a Nokia spokesman who asked not to be identified. He declined to provide other details, such as the whether the $360 price tag will change with the update.
Does anyone know if this is just going to be a 770 with new software?
I sincerely hope that if this is new hardware, they’ll also produce a software update for all of us who already own a 770.
DONT HANG US OUT TO DRY NOKIA!
Comment by JayKay 05.16.06 @ 2:50 amLooks like it’s “only” a new OS and new software, not new hardware:

Nokia’s press release describes a software upgrade only: “The Internet Tablet OS 2006 edition features pre-installed Google Talk and Jabber compatibility for Instant Messaging as well as Google Talk compatibility for Internet calling.” They say, “We are pleased to offer this software upgrade to both the existing user base of the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet as well to new users.”

Comment by Ciaron 05.16.06 @ 7:11 pmFrom what can be seen on the nokia’s web site (webcast), it is the same device. The full size keyboard is actualy full-screen keyboard based on its display, which is good enough for me.
Can’t wait to see/try it personaly.

The Nokia 770 Internet tablet, introduced last year, offers wireless access to digital music and video, as well as access to e-mail.
The new version of the Internet tablet, unveiled in Stockholm on Tuesday, also has a full-screen finger keyboard.

Comment by Ima pseudonym 05.16.06 @ 8:04 pmJust one disappointment: the web cast of the news conference at www.nokia.com/press/770InternetTablet can’t be viewed with the Nokia 770 - web site says you should get Internet Explorer and Real Player or Windows Media Player. Shame that their own web site doesn’t work with their own Internet Tablet.
Comment by Stefan 05.17.06 @ 5:24 amIs the upgraded software with google talk for Nokia 770 out yet?
If yes - where could I get it from?
