Seems that this is not allowed for the 770…..only the 800.

Hi,
My Nokia770-Product-ID code did not go through for some reason. I tried the product code specified(WLAN MAC), the web-page wasn’t granting me access to download the upgrade files stll.
Please contact me (via email) for further info.

Thanks,

This update is for the N800. It will not work for the 770.

Go here for the latest update for the 770;

It takes about 15 minutes, and worked easily with Microsoft Vista. Just use a USB cable

My Nokia 770 product ID dosent work either.
I think you may need to reword your update page, as its suggests there is and update avaible.

Cheers

Nokia doesn’t care that my less-than-a-year-old 770 is too out of date to run the new flash. When the new tablet is out, you n800 users should expect the same disregard. If you don’t have a tablet, don’t get one. That’s my advice.

Back up to the root directory of the link.
( http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/ ). You’ll see a “hacker edition” of the 2007 OS for the 770. Read up on it before you install it, though- as the name implies, it’s not for everyone.

I am trying to tether the 770 via bluetooth to a LG VX8300 phone. Has anyone succeeded at this?

Could not read the readme file (showed up as an .mov on my mac) I opened textedit, but all it had was a brief unix script.

Does the 800 software run dog slow on the 770?

It works with my Samsung phone. It doesn’t pair. But when you try to access the phone as date it works. The only problem I have is I have to enter passcodes on both phone and 770 every time I want to connect. It’s a good safety though, I guess.

[…] Upgrading to the latest version of software (Nokia OS 2007) should solve the problems to a greater or lesser degree. It gives you a Skype client. It allows you to run a Firefox based browser. It gives you more choice of programs , both commercial and open source. Problem is that it isn’t officially possible. Some details of how to do the upgrade are at https://nokia770.com/370 . Remember , it’s called hacker edition for a reason. While I don’t think you’ll lose the information on your flashcard, don’t quote me on that. Basically, you download the unsuported version from http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/ then use the standard PC based installer to transfer it to your Nokia 770. Et Voila! It thinks it’s an Nokia 800. I’m still playing with it , so don’t be surprised if there is another post in 10 mins cursing it …. initial impression is that it runs (noticably) faster. […]

Is there a browser other than Opera that includes flash and Java plugins that will run on the 770?

I mean I tried the OS 2007 hacker edition for N770 and it didnt accept my wlan code. Bugga!
I dont understand why people still buying this bloody N770 when Nokia stopped supporting it!
And I dont understand Nokia stopped supporting it. Idiots!
What a vaste of money!

the hacked version works, but it’s unstable. the radio streams don’t work on it, and it can’t run skype, so only get it if you need the updated flash plugin.

I loaded the Hacker Edition onto my Nokia 770 with no problems. Interface is MUCH slicker. Browser MUCH more capable. Initially, it was draining the battery much faster, but if I put it in offline mode before putting the lid on it, the battery life is pretty much back to normal.

I downloaded and installed the hackers version and everything went well. I also downloaded and installed skype for the 800, it appears to install but when I select it the splask screen appears for about 30 seconds and then disappears any suggestions?

I just want better flash support for some SaaS applications I need to use on the road. I am not a developer or hacker. Can I just install this “hacker edition” and run it based on simple installation instructions or do I need some technical expertise?
