770Fan (man, you’ve got to change the URL to something easier to remember) points out some specific features that make Nokia 770 stand out from other Internet-enabled handhelds in the market right now.
Number 4 is the Nokia 770’s 800×480 screen. No PDA on the market has a 800×480 screen. The highest resolution is VGA at 640×480. Does the screen really matter on a handheld device? In this case it does. Most web pages are designed for 1024×768 and pdas have a really hard time shrinking the page to a considerably smaller size.

No PDA on the market is right, including the 770! I am looking at getting a Palm TX which, as is pointed out, has both WiFi and Bluetooth. Need to try one out though to see how useable the screen on it is. It is only 320 x 480.
Comment by Simon 10.18.05 @ 2:27 amThe screen is absolutely critical for a PDA that will be used for browsing. I have owned a 320×480 Palm (Sony Clîe), and it’s pretty horrible for browsing. First you have a pixel resolution that is way too small for most web sites, then you are dealing with browsers which are frankly WAY behind the times, so are slow and incompatible. Even with my 640×480 Sharp Zaurus running Opera, some sites require a lot of uncomfortable scrolling (even so, I generally browse a couple hours a day on it). The Nokia will be a breath of fresh air; a true “browsing” PDA. The more resolution they can pack into it, the better.
