Nokia 770 :: Gmail should be no problem on 770
Gmail should be no problem on 770
Wednesday October 19th 2005, 1:09 am Category: Nokia 770 FAQ, Nokia 770 development

Baptiste Mille-Mathias says here Google’s GMail rich interface was causing memory problems on his Nokia 770 (earlier release, I guess), but eventually worked.

They just recently got Gmail to work in Opera, so I guess Nokia really went through an effort to provide proper JavaScript support for rich Web apps.

Just got my 770 and am having trouble with gmail on 2 fronts.

m.gmail.com gets me to an xml parsing error page, and using the tablet’s builtin email client i can receive but not send mail.

my smtp security settings are ssl/port 465, but i consistently get an ssl error and an invitation to “try again later”.

any help greatly appreciated, especially if some kind soul can amend the faq with the definitive array of settings for the mail client.

I am having trouble loading gmail. It keeps saying loading, loading, loading…

you need to have ssl selected in the advanced email account settings.

I only just got my 770 this morning, so maybe i missed something while i was perusing the manual, but the problem i am having with gmail is that whenever i try to access the main gmail login page, i get the error message “Unable to complete secure transaction”

i have been trying to figure out the problem for the past hour now >.

I can’t connect to any HTTPS site with my new Nokia 770. Anyone else having this problem. I see that this problem is mentioned several places on the net- but there are no responses from anyone who CAN connect to an HTTPS site.

Also, I tried unchecking the SSL2 box, no difference.
I too get the “Unable to complete secure transaction.” I assume there must be a work-around or configuration issue?

I also got this error “unable to complet secure transaction”

I can log in mail.yahoo.com in https connection.

And I once logged in gmail without that error, but when I sign out, i cannot sign in again

i am having this problem; https sites with the ’secure transaction’ error. no solutions ever found?

To fix the error message “Unable to complete secure transaction” — you’re not going to believe this - check your calendar date setting. Really, I had the date set one day behind for a while and it prevented Hotmail from loading.

Gmail WAS working for me just dandy for the past week or so, but stopped working yesterday complaining about being unable to securely connect to google. I tried clearing the cache, cookies and passwords, but no luck so far.

I’m not sure why it would suddenly stop working after it was working so well before…

I had a similar problem too, except that gmail used to work, then stopped working. I’m glad to say its working again and that the culprit was the date/time setting. If your date or time is off by too much, gmail won’t accept your connection. How bizarre is that?

Check your date and time settings. SSL requires date and time to match on the client and server, any difference other than one very small (like a minute) is rejected.
sometimes you have switched the month and day.
