Leave it to Mohammad Damt to surprise us with new game ports to Nokia 770. This time it’s Prince of Persia:
It was running fullscreen by switching to low resolution (I guess it’s 320×240) and I had nothing but the game screen. The game was quite impressive since it reminded me of the good old DOS days, although the move of the character needs some love. After a few minutes, I stucked with an important question: how to quit the game?
I will be holding out for Super Mario Brothers.
Daniel “NeoStrider” Monteiro published documentation for KidSketch, a simple graphics animation app for Nokia 770. He’s looking for fellow developers to help out:

Internet Tablet Talk introduces KidSketch, a simplistic graphics animation app on Nokia 770, but Simon Budig hints at bigger things coming: Gimp on 770:
Gimp maintainers (Sven Neumann and Michael Natterer) both were lucky bastards at the Guadec and both won a Nokia 770. I am fairly certain that they will hack on that when they have the device in their hands. However, this should not stop anybody from diving in the code and get familiar with it.
On the multiple mouse buttons: Since Gimp is also intended to be used with graphics tablets as well most functions are accessible with a stylus. You’ll miss some convenience things (like middle mousebutton panning) but these should not be essential.
So yes, I definitely believe that it is possible to have Gimp on the Maemo or GPE platform, it even should be possible to nicely integrate it with Hildon, although IMHO a nicely done pure GTK+ embedded interface has bigger chances on getting accepted for Gimp CVS.
Marcelo Eduardo left a comment here pointing to the new video of Doom on Nokia 770:
It’s not that easy to get used to pen gaming, but in doom I think it’s almost as good as it can be. You can type on the screen to open doors, you have all major functions on a GUI bar below game screen, and the positioning is based on how much you need to use them (dooh)
Mattias Schlenker (the developer behind the Maemo Live CD) says 770 has no problems with serving command-line interface.
I was a bit slow to post this last week (family visiting), but Marcelo Oliveira left a comment here with a link to his demo of Doom running on Nokia 770, which seems to be running very fast (that’s to return to the earlier reviews of Nokia 770 being reported slow). “The game is running incredible fast at fullscreen”, Marcelo says. 770 Fan also has a post about it.
Koen Kooi clarifies some confusion about how exactly MP3 playback is enabled on Nokia 770:
The Nokia 770 uses gstreamer to play mp3s, and gstreamer has drivers to use the DSP instead of the CPU. This was the original design for gstreamer when it was started by RidgeRun Inc.
Daniel Monteiro announced KidSketch (with source) - a sketching application for doodling on Nokia 770.
If you are not scared by long Finnish winters and GNOME class libraries, Nokia got a job for you (thanks, Mike Cane). Actually, they’ve got several of them. Nokia is hiring for 770 team and is looking for:

Nokia opened a Wiki to solicit requests for documentation. So far UI guidelines topic has been used for example, due to frequent requests from developers.
