Nokia 770 as full-screen e-book reader
Wednesday June 29th 2005, 11:48 pm Category: Nokia 770 development

This is definitely one of the strongest selling points for the device, if only they would have a picture of an e-book reader with great fonts and clarity running on Nokia 770. But so far TeleRead provides Maemo screenshots of Plucker running in full screen mode. See this screenshot to get an idea of the look and feel.

Plucker Viewer = e-book reader + Offline webpages reader

Using Plucker Parser/Distiller and/or Plucker Desktop, you can read most of your favorites sites without internet connection.

Plucker Parser/Distiller

The distiller is the set of tools that actually fetches the webpages you specify, and handles the conversion of them to Plucker format. The binary packages contain the distiller, in Python format. There are also additional external versions of the distiller in Java and for Macintosh platforms.

Plucker Desktop

If you ever found editing configuration files by hand difficult, Plucker Desktop is the tool for you. With Plucker Desktop, you can configure all of your Plucker content settings, select and configure channels, and schedule syncronization of your content all through the visual content management interface

Plucker Desktop includes everything you need to use Plucker, including the viewer, the parser/distiller components, and a great GUI to configure and fetch your content

You can find out more details, including a full tour of the application, by visiting http://desktop.plkr.org/
