From discussion on maemo-users:
There are three ways to perform this action:
1) As a USB removable disk.
Connect 770 to PC with the provided USB cable, and power-on the device. This will cause the 770 to act as a standard removable device. On Windows XP this will cause the 770 to show as a removable disk, and on Linux you could use the command-line utility pumount (”man pumount”) or the tools provided by your desktop environtment and HAL (KDE’s kicker applet “storage media” or gnome’s equivalent).
2) Network-based
When networking is enabled there are infinite options to copy data from/to other computers or Internet (using mail or webmail perhaps the more obvious one).
For example, you coud install the excellent Dropbear SSH client and server. After this, you could use
scp MY_FILE user@770_CURRENT_IP_ADDRESS:/media/mmc1
To copy files to the mmc card (reverse the arguments order to copy FROM the 770 to disk). You could know the current IP number of 770 via the Connection manager -> Internet connection -> IP address.
Got mine yesterday, I am trying to enable sshd, but when I try to connect I dont think the server is running. nmap -sT shows no ports open. Do you have to enable root for it to work? It says in the ssh guide that if your not root it sets the port to 2222. Which I am cool with, but its not working, I am a linux guru =) but I cant figure it out. Also does it want the id_rsa.pub file to be renamed ~/.ssh/authorized_keys or copied like this?: ~/.ssh/authorized_keys/id_rsa.pub It does not specify.
Comment by Daryl 12.11.05 @ 9:30 amI would definitely suggest the SanDisk MobileMate. It supports Transflash, SD, MMC, RS-MMC and is the size of a keychain drive, so you can keep it with you.
Comment by Andrew Turner 12.12.05 @ 9:48 pmYou’re trying to install an ssh daemon (sshd) on your 770? Why? Don’t you want an ssh client?
When I use ssh keys I do not have the authorized_keys folder. My key is just in ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub.

Comment by David Smoot 12.12.05 @ 10:03 pmI am not much of a Linux geek, although I do have one Xandros desktop installation. On my WinXP computer I have downloaded and installed the latest 770 windows updater (which I assumed had any drivers needed for RSMMC cards), but cannot access the card in the 770, either with the device connected per procedure via usb cable or the card removed and connected via my Sandisk MobilMate SD adapter. Is there some Win driver update I am missing?
Any help would appreciated.
