Russ Nelson said he had no problem Nokia 770 and Nemerix BT77 GPS receiver.
tomtomGO is a linux device and the software is under GPL :

Can we imagine a re-compilation of those sources on the Nokia770 ?
Comment by jeje-toulouse 11.29.05 @ 2:58 pmtomtom does not publish the main component under the GPL however.
The best bet currently will be gpsdrive or roadmap. The gpsdrive user interface is abysmal but it’s about all there is for usgs maps.
Can someone please write an app that downloads & caches google satellite/road maps on demand? pygps sort of does that with terraserver but it’s not being maintained.
Comment by Brad Midgley 12.01.05 @ 5:27 amTomTom makes a software-only product, which you can buy for PDAs. I would definitely buy a Nokia 770 and the TomTom software if it was available.
I have been looking for a standalone Nav system, but a flexible system like the 770 would be much more attactive to me.
Comment by Todd 12.05.05 @ 10:10 amRuss,
Can you please post a step-by-step instruction on how to configure the GPS & 770 for this.
Every time I try to pair the 770 with a BT device, I get a message that the BT device dose not have any service usable by 770. Eventhough they pair successfully.
Thanks

Sugestion - try MaemoMapper - it is available via the “garage”.
https://garage.maemo.org/
It can use (including download) maps from Google, if you configure it correctly.
It can read and write GPX files.
